United is The Way to Youth Opportunity
At United Way, we want all kids to soar. So we work with the people who care for them - from families and neighbors, to schools, and community agencies - to connect young people with the support they need.
Our Focus
Helping young people realize their full potential.
Our Strategy
Identify gaps in community services and create, partner, or invest in programs to expand educational opportunities for youth especially those that support pre-K and after-school programs focusing on STEAM, literacy, and leadership skills.
Our Programs
ReadingPals - ReadingPals is a statewide early literacy initiative led by The Children's Movement of Florida. We create meaningful experiences for volunteer mentors to support students from Pre-K to 3rd grade who may need extra help. Our model focuses on developing early literacy skills, building relationships and confidence, and reinforcing a love of reading.
Our Initiatives
Alachua County Campaign for Grade Level Reading - The Campaign is hosted by United Way and is comprised of a network of agencies, community members, providers, institutions, and individuals that meet once per month to focus on maximizing the efforts of the community and organizations to ensure children are reading on grade-level by the end of third grade.
